Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) 4-Star Rating
Waterloo was the original name for the city of Austin, the state’s capital and seat of Travis County. Austin is considered the fastest growing large city in the United States and was named the #1 place to live in the U.S. for 2017 and 2018. The Waterloo Neighborhood Park will serve as “the civic heart of the city” providing play spaces, parkland, trails, promenades, and the Moody Amphitheater for Austin’s diverse population and visitors.
Altieri provided complete engineering systems design for front of house including a concessions kitchen, VIP space, point of sale, and toilet rooms, and back of house include dressing rooms, production and multipurpose spaces, backstage kitchen, and utility rooms. Mechanical systems included energy recovery systems for all ventilated spaces. Electrical systems included a power and lighting control system to support theatrical and other visual performances on stage. Our work also included design of temporary power distribution to support events throughout the park and an electrical generator designed for life safety.
Altieri and the project team were awarded an Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) Four-Star Rating. The rating recognized key project accomplishments:
- 46,276 kWh per year energy savings,
- 507,675 gallons of water saved per year, and
- 1,177,005 tons of waste diverted from the landfill during construction
