For the third year in a row, Altieri attended the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums Building Museums™ Symposium, this year in Washington D.C. We also sponsored and presented at the Symposium. Our speaker, Aaron, was joined by the Glenstone team for the first plenary session: Pushing the Boundaries: Glenstone Reimagines the Museum Experience.
Glenstone Museum is a consummate example of the choreographed integration of architecture, landscape, and art. The goal of the project design team was to re-invent the museum experience, and they did just that. Glenstone visitors will experience a personal encounter with art, showcasing iconic examples of modern and contemporary art. The museum was originally opened in 2006 and now includes a new museum building called the Pavilions, an additional 130 acres of meadows, woodlands, and streams, an Arrival Hall, bookstore and café.
Prior to the start of the symposium, MAAM also held guided tours of multiple museums, two of which were Altieri’s projects: The Folger and Glenstone Museum.
